1876: Established in 1867. Tetsujiro Kamei, who came from a long line of Japanese sword sheath craftsmen, started the sales of products related to Japanese swords.

1876: Sales drastically declined due to a decree abolishing the wearing of swords after the Meiji Restoration and turned into knife business. Started manufacturing and sales of climbing knives, scissors, and swords in a plain-wood scabbard.

1916: Started to produce mountain knives and scissors

1919: World War I ended. Purchased machinery from the occupation army and started the manufacturing of razors.

​

1928: Changed company name to Hao Anzen Kamisori Seisakusho and started manufacturing of razors in Hinode-cho, Seki City.

​

1932: Changed company name to Showa Blade Seisakusho and installed a series of automated equipment such as for automatic blade polishing, automatic rust prevention coating, and automatic packaging.

​

1940: Changed company name to Shiseido Riki Kogyo Co., Ltd.  As an Army and Navy designated munitions factory, manufactured military swords, razors for Navy and the wings of battle-plane Hien and delivered them to the military. The number of employees exceeded 500.

1943: Changed company name to Shiseido Riki Kogyo Co., Ltd.  As an Army and Navy designated munitions factory, manufactured military swords, razors for Navy and the wings of battle-plane Hien and delivered them to the military. The number of employees exceeded 500.

1944: Monthly output of razors achieved 3.5 million units, the record for the time.

​

1948: Company name changed to NIPPON RIKI KOGYO Co.,Ltd

​

1952: Then President Tetsuji Kamei was invited to visit the United States and became the first overseas traveler in Gifu Prefecture. The passport with the issue number 1 issued by Gifu Prefecture is still treasured in the company.

​

1953: Then President Tetsuji Kamei was appointed as US-Japan trade inspector from the United States, and started exporting products from Seki City, Gifu Prefecture and Tsubame City,  Niigata Prefecture to the United States.

​

1956: Successed to produce a stainless steel blade first in Japan.  It was second in the world.

​

1964: Built a new factory in the current location.

​

1966: Second-generation Representative Ginichi Kamei received the Fourth Class  Order of the Sacred Treasure as the order in lifetime from the emperor of Japan.

​

1968: Second-generation Representative Ginichi Kamei passed away.

​

1972: Developed the Japan’s first razor with plastic handle “Mach 3” and started its sales.

​

1977: Started to produce eyebrow scissors and tweezers for SHISEIDO (sales is still ongoing).

​

1981: Started the manufacturing of Japan’s first razor blade with safety guard.

​

1990: Started the manufacturing of three razor items for Shiseido PREPARE brand (for Face L, for Face T and for underarm), as well as eyebrow scissors and tweezers at the same time.

2002: Acquired ISO14001

2005: Acquired ISO 9001

​

2015: Started to produce a micro safety guard
